Hurricane Alan ran well behind Nayyir in the Group 2 Lennox Stakes on the opening day of the meeting and has to be respected but the concession of 7lbs to the majority of his rivals may be beyond Richard Hannon's colt and the vote instead goes to Laidlow, who gets the verdict over Al Turf. The last mentioned also represents Richard Hannon and has his first outing in this country since April having been campaigned in Ireland and France in his last three starts. Having failed to trouble the judge in seven starts since making a winning debut, he is easily opposed though. David Loder's Thirsk Classic Trial winner Royal Dignitary has claims on the pick of his form, as does the George Margarson-trained Our Teddy, but the vote goes to Laidlow. Sir Michael Stoute's colt looked one to keep on the right side of when making a winning debut in a decent Newmarket maiden over a mile in the spring. The American-bred colt looked to be done for a turn of foot dropped to seven furlongs behind the high class Trade Fair at the same venue on his only subsequent outing and should appreciate the return to a mile today. The absence since May should not be a problem for Laidlow as he goes well when fresh and he is taken to give Kieren Fallon another winner in a memorable campaign for the Irishman.
