slowly into stride, soon tracking leaders, ridden and one pace well over 2f out
held up in 4th, headway over 1f out, chased winner and no impression
tracked winner, ridden and effort over 2f out, kept on same pace
made all, driven clear final furlong, ran on gamely
held up in last, ridden and effort on outside over 1f out, weakened final furlong
Mark Johnston showed how tough his horses can be with the win of Takes Tutu (215 Thurs.) less than 48 hours after the horse had run a good race at the same track. Darasim bids to repeat the dose having finished second on Tuesday over 14 furlongs, but realistically looks the stable second string and Murghem is preferred. Murghem's fourth in the Group 3 Curragh Cup reads well in this company and he should go very close. There are question marks over most of the remainder - The Whistling Teal has been off for over three months and may need the run, Tamiami Trail and Solo Flight look out of sorts and Ovambo doesn't look quite good enough. Maniatis however has been in good form and could give Murghem most to do.
