Aidan O'Brien's newcomer Brave Tin Soldier makes plenty of appeal on pedigree and is bound to be popular with backers but the son of Storm Cat may not represent much in the way of value and preference is for the once raced Makshoof, who gets the vote ahead of Benchmark. The last mentioned looks to be going the right way but Richard Hannon's colt is already proving to be expensive to follow for backers and he is hard to recommend now. Chataway showed some promise on his debut at Newbury last month and is entitled to improve for the run, while the David Nicholls-trained Smirfys Diamond lost no caste in defeat on his debut and is another to consider although this looks tougher. Aegis is marginally preferred to Kings Art of the two Barry Hills runners in the race but the vote goes to Makshoof. The Michael Jarvis-trained colt probably caught a tartar in the shape of Evens And Odds at Beverley first time out in a race that has a solid look to it and he is taken to make the most of the experience gained that day.
