Only one favourite has won this in the past eleven years. Pires, who has won just once in 20 starts on the Flat, could be the market leader after some decent form over timber though he probably needs further. Moran Gra is sure to attract support after recent victories at Leopardstown and the Curragh and must be on the short-list. He just holds Boynagh Joy on that latest run but the latter ran very well here a year ago and looks a big threat. The consistent Waydownsouth has struggled since being raised 11lb after completing a ha-trick last autumn but Mid Mon Lady has competed at a higher level this year though she may find this on the short side. STUNNING VIEW may not have the form figures for such a competitive event but he looks just the type Dermot Weld wins with at this meeting. A winner here as a juvenile, he caught the eye in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot and has plenty of improvement in him. UK raider Kyllachy Star ran very well in that latter event and is just 2lb higher than when landing a tough handicap at Chester.
