Wicklow Lad should win some decent races this season over fences as he progressed at a rate of knots last term. He's well treated on his return to hurdling and must be a threat despite a long absence. Knockieran is in superb form and though raised another 5lb for completing a double at Limerick he's still on a reasonable mark. Ruby Walsh has been booked for Conem, who is 15lb below his chase rating and will have come on for a recent run at Fairyhouse so he's on the short-list. ABARTA gained the first victory of his career under a fine ride from Paul Carberry at Ballinrobe. A 6lb rise looks manageable and the soft ground is a bonus so a double looks on the cards. Back Me Up, a very promising hurdler in 2009, had just three runs over fences earlier this year and must be considered on her return to hurdling.
