Verdict

Dermot Weld has farmed this race, winning it six times in succession until three years ago and will be keen to get back on the winning trail with Jassaar, a son of Dansili out of a 7f winner. John Oxx has two entries and Fridtjof Nansen should have no problems picking up a maiden in due course after a good run at Killarney, though he's now looking vulnerable to an unexposed type with ASTRONOMER fitting the bill. The Ballydoyle colt, a 600,000gns son of Galileo related to a couple of winners around this trip, was unfancied on testing ground at the Curragh in May and didn't get the run of the race but will improve significantly for the experience and has an entry in the Great Voltiguer. Michael O'Callaghan won this last year and Quinns Red Rose has shown potential in strong maidens but Spirit Of Big Bang made an encouraging start at Leopardstown and could provide the main threat.
