Verdict

This looks a match on paper and marginal preference is for Pharpost over Papua while Arabian Moon and Fataliste look outclassed. The Venetia Williams-trained gelding had proved frustrating over the larger obstacles of late but showed a return to form when an impressive handicap winner over this trip at Uttoxeter in late June. The selection is well treated by the race conditions and should be followed with his confidence on a high following his latest clear cut success. Papua was formerly a useful middle- distance handicapper on the Flat and also showed plenty of ability over hurdles. However, John White's charge has had his share of problems in recent times. Despite a recent Uttoxeter novice victory, he doesn't look the force of old and has 6lb to find with the selection on these terms so looks worth opposing on this occasion.
