A low-grade event that should take little winning and the vote goes to How Ran On while Dual Star and Wellie are the likeliest alternatives. Lisa Williamson's charge had proved disappointing of late but took full advantage of a lenient mark when making most and showing good battling qualities when scoring over two miles at Newton Abbot in late June. The son of Mandalus was far from disgraced off today's mark when chasing home a useful yardstick on a return visit to the same venue and should be able to dictate terms in this small field so may prove hard to peg back. Dual Star recorded back-to-back wins at Newton Abbot this time last year but has ben well below form since and remains on a 5lb higher mark so is passed over on this occasion. Wellie has run well on both starts this term and won't be inconvenienced by the drop back in trip but has to overcome a near three-month break and is probably best watched so How Ran On looks the answer.
