The second race on the card is a nine runner fillies contest and hopefully MELLIFERA can go in ahead of Possy Fossil and Catherines Call. With only nine runners this is a competitive heat but Walter Swinburn's horse should strip much fitter today for her seasonal pipe opener. The handicapper has dropped her a couple of lbs which should also help get her home in this tough heat. Possy Fossil has a 60 day break to overcome but her form is quite solid. Most of her form is on the all weather but she has ran well on turf before and her prominent style of racing will stand to her well on this track. Catherines Call will probably start favourite for the race but the drop down to six furlongs is not sure to suit even though she seems to travel well. This is also a step up in class from a higher mark but she does look progressive. Of the rest Katy's Secret and Show Willing are sure to go well especially the latter but does have a bad draw.
