The short list here contains Clear Sailing, Thalberg and Dayrose, with the vote going to Thalberg. Clear Sailing is related to a good winner in Rainwashed Gold and, with the stable showing some form of late, has to be considered in a fairly low-key opener. However, and despite having been a beaten favourite in each of his last two starts, Thalberg's form rates in the mid-80s, which would be good enough to win a race of this nature nine times out of ten, especially given that Dayrose has something to prove following a 4/11 defeat at Catterick last time. With Regent's Park having been beaten in a handicap off a mark of 72 last time and Bride To Be's best form also rating in the low 70s, Thalberg will hardly get a better chance to score, and is taken to do just that.
