In depth

Verdict

Gentle Guru has been knocking on the door for a while now and may find that it opens tonight. Malapropism and Drumming Party are feared most but Captain Kir is also of interest. The winner got first run on the selection at Sandown and she was never able to reel him in but it was another decent effort from her. This contest is tight but it represents a drop in grade and she's taken to make the most of it. Malapropism also drops in grade and has been given a real chance by the handicapper. He isn't getting any younger but retains his enthusiasm for the game and rates a big danger. Drumming Party only narrowly missed out in a claimer last time but he is effective under the conditions and from this mark in handicap company and he looks sure to be there or thereabouts at the finish. Captain Kir is fitted with a tongue strap for his handicap bow and is open to improvement. His pedigree suggests that soft ground will hold no fears for him and support in the ring would make him of interest but, for the winner, we'll come back to Gentle Guru.
