mid-division, lost place halfway, ridden and kept on again final furlong
chased leaders, ridden to press leaders and every chance inside final furlong, unable to quicken
led, ridden and kept on well until headed and faded well inside final furlong
chased leaders on outer, ridden 2f out, driven to lead narrowly well inside final furlong, headed on line
chased leader, driven and every chance final furlong, not pace of leading pair towards finish
slowly into stride, well behind, plenty to do 2f out, rapid headway on wide outside over 1f out, strong run final furlong, led on line
chased leaders, ridden 3f out, outpaced final 2f
never better than mid-division
Entertaining is out to get the losses back and is taken to beat Ellens Princess, with Ghasiba and Ratukidul others to note. Henry Candy's filly was fancied enough to be sent off as favourite on her Pontefract debut in June, but she was off the bridle by halfway and was well beaten. However the daughter of Halling will be much better suited by the extra furlong and the rain-softened ground will bring her stamina into play. Drawn in stall nine, she can put her introduction well behind her and can prove too strong for Ellens Princess who figured in a blanket finish on her Goodwood debut. Richard Hannon's filly came from a long way back at the Sussex track and may need yet another furlong to be seen to best effect. Ghasiba made her bow at Ascot in July but did not show a great deal and may need more time, while Ratikidul will come on for the run and will be seen to better effect over a mile-plus. Great Opinions has the edge in experience but has not impressed so far, and we are happy to side with Entertaining.
