In depth

Verdict

A very modest handicap contested by largely disappointing types, so despite the large field this shouldn't take much winning, and Forever My Lord is expected to follow up his recent win, at the main expense of River Of Fire and Tass Heel. The latter is a thorough stayer who will appreciate a sound pace and can stay on to make the frame at least. River Of Fire has yet to convince at this trip but the sharp nature of the track should suit. Back to form on his latest start, he has decent each way claims. Caesarean Hunter comes here in good form, having chased home a progressive sort at Salisbury last time, and should stay this two mile trip without any problems. Sadler's Cove landed a modest seller over twelve furlongs last time and will find this tougher. So Forever My Lord, who amazingly races off a two pound lower mark than when winning an apprentice handicap at Lingfield last time, seems the obvious choice. This is a big step up in trip, but he is at least well handicapped, which is more than can be said for most of these, and we take him to follow up and land the double.
