A competitive contest gets proceedings under way and many can be given a chance on their best form, but the main protagonists appear to be Man The Gate, Flying Spirit and Lord Gizzmo and we will take a chance on Man The Gate. The gelding from the Peter Cundell was a good winner last time out when defeating Azur in good stle, although he has risen in the weights for that win but he is still well weighted on his best old form and with conditions in his favour he will be hard to beat. Flying Spirit rates the main danger he was a fair third behind Digger last time out and a reproduction of that effort off the same mark here would give him ever chance. However his best for has come when he gets an easy lead and he is not sure to get that here with Birth Of The Blues in the field. Lord Gizzmo caused a surprise when winning last time out when he made all to defeat Traculier. However he will have needed to improve again to score off this higher mark. Of the remainder Most Saucy and Compton Aviator are from yards in form but they look weighted up to the hilt and will need to better their best to defeat the selection Man The Gate.
