BARBIROLLI seems to have plenty in his favour this afternoon and we take the gelding to see off Shanafarahan and Sir Haydn. Proven on the surface and now in off a mark of 48, the seven-year-old has the services of the useful Paul Pickard this afternoon and he should have come on for a recent outing. Shanfarahan has had a few names called about him in the past. He won effortlessly at Kempton and if able to translate form off the polytrack, he is a major player. Sir Haydn is a regular in plating grade. His record of one from 27 on turf says it all. Sand Repeal represents a yard that are having winners so should not be ignored at bigger odds. Lady Hestia brought little to the table in three maidens and there won't be too many horses in Marcus Tregoning's yard rated just 49. Itsawindup is likely to be ridden prominently again this afternoon. Calzaghe was placed off a mark of 71 on the turf in the past so off 60 he has obvious claims. Up In Arms can be recalcitrant at the start and was not on his best behaviour at Lingfield in February. The meeting ends on something of a whimper and Barbirolli is selected.
