A poor finale, with little decent form of late amongst the 14 set to face the starter, but MONS CALPE won last time out and could follow up at the expense of Ja One and Dice. Paul Cole's gelding is by Rock of Gibraltar, and showed good improvement to win at Beverley with first time headgear which stays on. He cost connections over 100,000 guineas 18 months ago, and is handily weighted compared with some of these. The only other one to have ever won is Millway Beach, four runs back over shorter on the Lingfield Polytrack. Dice steadily improved in maidens, but disappointed on his handicap debut after playing up beforehand, so he can be forgiven that run. Ja One will benefit from her handicap debut last month when at times running a bit keenly after a lengthy absence. It may not take too much improvement to win this, although we'll side with winning experience in the shape of Mons Calpe.
