Topazes looks to have been found a decent opportunity to follow up his win at Southwell but may have something to fear from Wave Hill and Blur. The selection is one of the less exposed runners in the field and ran out a ready, and well backed winner, on his handicap debut having finished out with the washing on his previous three starts. He's likely to be clobbered with a higher rise than the 6lbs he's penalised here and can strike while the iron is hot. Wave Hill hasn't been beaten too far in his ventures in handicap company so far and could conceivably improve for today's extra furlong and the return to turf. There were certainly signs on his latest start that he could be nearing peak form. Blur has yet to show her hand; this daughter of Oasis Dream may well benefit from the drop back in trip but it's difficult to know what she achieved in finishing down the field in three well contested mile maidens so we're happy to side with the obvious claims of Topazes.
