In depth

Verdict

Knavesmire was third in the Brocklesby but last time out was slightly disappointing when a beaten faourite at Newcastle, and so we will take a chance here on well bred newcomer Sloop Johnb. The selection's sire went well on debut, fuelling confidence, and is related to the top sprinter Airwave, so he might just possess a touch of class. In addition to that he comes from a yard going very well and provided he is not too green then he might just be good enough. Knavesmire is respected, in spite of that defeat last time, and does at least have the benefit of a couple of runs for those looking to get involved. Able Master is also related to winners and would not be a major shock winner, while Rosabee was not disgraced on debut but will probably be better for further than this trip. For today then, we will side with debutante Sloop Johnb.
