The topweight Oxford City has every chance of defying the burden of 10st racing off the same mark as when a length second behind Maslak at Newbury when last seen in May and he should be thereabouts if fit for his reappearance. William Knight's Peintre d'Argent is only 3lb higher than when scoring at Ascot in July but has disappointed since then so is hard to back with any confidence, while Roger Charlton's Starshine is lightly raced but has yet to prove that she stays this far. Peter Bowen's Rio Gael is an interesting contender back on the flat having shown better form in recent starts over hurdles and has to be strongly respected but it may be worth taking a chance with CHINCOTEAGUE. Admittedly Brian Meehan's filly disappointed at Kempton last time but earlier form when second in races at Leicester and Bath reads well and she looks worth backing to go one better.
