In depth

Verdict

Our Vic is the confident choice in this Novices' Chase with Borehill Joker and Charlies Future the two most likely to chase him home. Our Vic has already shown himself to be useful over hurdles, and he is sure to have been well-schooled for this his chasing debut. After winning his first three races over hurdles, he was a good second to Overstrand in a Listed race last time. He looks the type to have a big future over fences and it would be a major surprise if he does not make a winning start to his chasing career. Charlies Future could be the one to profit if Our Vic fails to negotiate the fences, and he was a fair third behind Tanikos at Hereford last month. He is sure to win the odd race, but he should find the favourite too hot here. Borehill Joker has failed to sparkle over fences so far but has shown a modest level of form and that could make him competitive for the place money, but this looks a straightforward opportunity for Our Vic, and he is given the confident recommendation.
