Plenty with claims in the opener including the consistent Langford and recent Newmarket winner Young Safawan but the vote goes to Pay The Silver, who is taken to supplement his course and distance success of earlier in the month. Ian Wood's gelding won with a bit in hand that day and although beaten at Sandown subsequently may not have handled the track that day as his better for is on an undulating switch-back course. He looks worth another chance here under the in-form Lisa Jones. Young Safawan is less exposed than most of these and has to be respected off just a 3lb higher mark than at headquarters. He rates a bigger danger than Langford, who has found one too good in each of his last two starts. Blackmail would have claims if fit enough after a spell on the sidelines, while a market move for My Galliano would be interesting. However, Pay The Silver has solid claims despite the burden of top weight on a track that suits.
