    Verdict

Local trainer Simon Dow saddles Kaleo, a front runner who likes it here, but his best form has all come on ground with firm in the description and unless conditions brighten he can be opposed despite an encouraging return to action. Similar comments apply to Resurge who has been kept away from rain-softened ground so we'll take a chance on LAUDATORY. Walter Swinburn's charge has run well enough on ground with cut to suggest he acts and this is the first time he'll race in a handicap off a mark in the 70's since winning cosily at Kempton last year. Of course there's a chance he'll prove best at that venue but we're prepared to side with him in a race that'll take little winning, with veteran Wiggy Smith surely one to take on following a deserved but rare Leicester win and Flying Destination possibly in need of a stiffer test on faster ground.
