Verdict

Kessraa has shown a consistent level of form and lost no caste in defeat when chasing home Park Lane in a Pontefract maiden last time but he is only rated 67 and has a bit to find on official BHA ratings with ALQAFFAY, who gets the vote over Monetary Fund. Gerard Butler's gelding is only rated 1lb lower than the selection and rates a serious threat to him having been placed in maidens at Southwell and Ripon in his last two starts but the son of Montjeu is becoming expensive to follow and may again have to settle for minor honours. It is difficult to make a case for Ed Vaughan's Pellinore and of more interest may be Mark Johnston's Ettrick Mill, who has run with credit in both starts on artificial surfaces and now makes his debut on turf. John Gosden's Alqaffay is becoming expensive to follow having not been out of the first three in his last five starts but looks worth another chance today in what does not seem to be that competitive a contest.
