SCAMPI (NAP) has a good strike- rate on good or quicker ground and the way he travelled into contention to land a competitive Class 2 handicap at the Dante meeting was impressive. A 6lb rise seems harsh but he has course experience on his side. Caius Chorister is the other course and distance winner on show and his two wins here last season were by 12 and 19 lengths respectively. He was hit hard by the assessor but returned to form here on his reappearance and can't be left out of calculations despite a career-high mark. Max Mayhem did well to score on stable debut at Kempton and it's hard not to see him involved again off a 4lb higher rating with Ascot winner Sheer Rocks completing the shortlist.
