Just the four runners for the opener, but an interesting race nonetheless, with our vote going to Peeress ahead of Sundrop. Having marked her down as a filly to follow this season, the selection got off to the perfect start when scoring decisively in a Listed affair at York. Whilst this is possibly tougher, she is ready for the challenge, and she can go well. Last season's 1,000 Guineas runner-up, Sundrop, ended the season with a Listed win and she should do well this year, while Secret History made the most of the conditions to win the Musidora Stakes last time, although she was two lengths behind Aldora at Goodwood the time before that and is now three pounds worse off at the weights. A slightly below par Aldora was then six-and-a-half lengths behind Peeress at York but is three pounds better off today. Overall, though, our vote goes to Peeress.

Sundrop (JPN) 11-8fav (8-9) Held up, not clear run over 2f out, headway and hung right inside final furlong, swerved left, ran on to lead close home, won at Newmarket 1m 2f lst fll stk (A1) sft in Oct beating I Had A Dream (8-9) by 1/2l, 10 ran.
Secret History (USA) 4-1 (8-10) Made all, ridden over 1f out, driven and drew clear inside final furlong, won at York 1m 2f 3yo fll Grp 3 (1) sft in May beating Quickfire (8-10) by 5l, 6 ran.
Aldora 2-1 (9-6) Held up behind leaders, ridden to challenge 2f out, weakened final furlong, 3rd of 5, 7l behind Peeress (9-3) at York 7f lst stk (1) gs in May.
