Whitgift Rock starts this season on a fair mark after three runs on the all-weather this winter and has to be respected following a two-month break but preference is for Dandygrey Russett, with Zonic Boom rated the best of the remainder. The selection lost little in defeat when second behind the progressive Whirly Bird at Lingfield last time and is set to go up another pound from tomorrow so can race off a favourable mark today. The Player showed enough at Lingfield last time to suggest that he can be competitive in a race of this nature and warrants respect along with Richard Hannon's Desert Hawk, who should come on for his reappearance effort at Bath and improve for today's longer trip. Similar comments apply to Gay Kelleway's Vamose, while Bishops Finger has yet to prove he is as effective on turf as on sand. Zonic Boom holds solid claims on the evidence of his run at Nottingham last month but disappointed either side of that and a safer bet looks to be Dandygrey Russett, who is taken to fulfill the promise of her latest start.
