Gordon Lord Byron has been in superb form and is obviously on the upgrade but he probably has another 10lb to find against a couple of these on official ratings and would have had a better chance in the handicap later on the card. DUFF was conceding him 17lb when beaten less than a length over the C&D a fortnight ago and it's impossible to see the winner confirming the form on these terms. Edward Lynam's veteran remains in good heart and will take some beating though Angel's Pursuit is a big danger. David Marnane's colt is rated 3lb higher and receives 7lb here. He's run well fresh in the past so an absence since July shouldn't be too much of a problem. Rudolf Valentino is an intriguing entry having his first start for new connections as this very expensive former Ballydoyle inmate hasn't been seen since finishing behind Pathfork in the National Stakes of last year.
