John Dunlop's runner Alkhataaf has been getting closer in his four starts and Nicholas Pocock should improve for a seasonal opener at Redcar but our preferred option is for ENGULF who was just a quarter-of-a-length behind the victor last time out. The pick has been very close in his last two runs and although dropped to six furlongs for the first time since debut may be able to see off the opposition. Alkhataaf may appreciate the trip after being headed within the final hundred yards last time out at Newbury. With a shorter distance to travel and having shown good pace last time out he may benefit. There may be more to come from Nicholas Pocock who has shown glimpses of ability in his first couple of tries. It could be a hard fought affair and we side with Engulf to lose his maiden tag.
