In depth

Verdict

Although Favour can be a little nervy before a race, she does hold a fair amount of ability and is given the benefit of the doubt over Play That Tune, who is weighted up to her best, and Surf The Net, who is better than her two starts this season would have you believe and takes significant drop in class here. Raphael is also worth noting as she is well suited to this sort of trip. However, her going days are hard to predict and she is opposable on balance for win only purposes. Flashing Blade reverted to type last time and now has a little to prove, while Strong Hand is also no certainty to better her latest effort, even though she went well on her only previous start at this course. That said, Mick Easterby is shrewder than the average trainer and a solid move for any his charges will always make the bookmakers sit up and take notice. Nevertheless, Favour, who is notoriously hard to train, shaped as if she were coming to hand last time and, with the old partnership of Mrs Ramsden and Fallon teaming up once more, she can confirm the suspicion that there are further races to be won with her when she is in the right mood. The champion jockey is the right man to ensure that Favour does not have too much time to think about what she is doing when push comes to shove. And an improved display is anticipated this evening.
