Verdict

Last year’s runner-up, Battersea was fourth in the Ebor at York last time when ahead of Seamour, Oriental Fox and Elidor and should go well again. The latter had earlier won in this grade at Goodwood with First Mohican well behind but it could pay to stick with York’s Melrose winner WALL OF FIRE in this. Hugo Palmer’s three-year-old has been raised 8lb for that success but appeared to score with a bit in hand and is preferred to Fabricate, who finished ahead of First Mohican when third at Chester recently and should be in the mix for Ryan Moore. Polarisation faded badly in the Northumberland Plate last time and was well beaten in this last year but Stipulate may improve for today’s longer trip.
