Oligarch is selected to shrug off topweight in the nursery, with Zomerlust, Game Lad and Maxamillion just three in with chances. It was no surprise when Oligarch duly opened his account at Bath after his efforts against useful company earlier in the season. He ran really well from a bad draw behind Caesar Beware in the St Leger Yearling Stakes here in September and was then a creditable third behind Godolphin's Red Admiral at Yarmouth. He is on the upgrade and should pay to follow next season. Zomerlust nearly timed it right when beaten a neck at Ayr last time and will go well in a bid to get the losses back, while Game Lad handled the soft ground when scoring comfortably at Redcar. Maxamillion looks held by Oligarch at the weights on Brighton running, but may improve a bit, and with Red Affleck, Qawaafil and Forfeiter all having caught the eye on occasion, it promises to be very competitive, but Oligarch may just have that bit more in the locker.
