Prime Contender can beat stablemates Dabbers Ridge, Grand Roche and Guardiaro, with Bow Wave another interesting newcomer. The market will no doubt prove to be the best guide here, but of the Barry Hills quartet, it is Prime Contender that is lumbered with the vote. The son of Efisio made eye catching headway when seventh on his Newbury debut, and would surely have gone much closer had he not dwelt and become detached early on. The experience will not be lost, and he makes more appeal than Guardiaro who by coincidence also finished seventh on his Haydock debut. We will know more about Dabbers Ridge and Grand Roche once they have run and the market will prove the best guide. Henry Candy saddles Bow Wave who is by Australian sire Danzero, but like the selection has Efisio in his blood, on the dam's side. He could go well on his introduction, and along with In The Know, is one to note for next season. Bets are definitely best kept to a minimum, with Prime Contender the tentative pick.
