Verdict

Three Points can give Godolphin a Town Moor winner against the classy Continent and L'Oiseau d'Argent in an open affair. Three Points, formerly trained by John Dunlop, for whom he won in Group 3 company in France, is a quirk of breeding as he should excel over middle distances, but has shown his best form over six-furlongs. He faced a really tough task on his reappearance in the Group 1 Golden Jubilee Handicap at Royal Ascot when left trailing in the wake of Choisir and Airwave, as was Continent. Three Points will be fitter now and is taken to get the better of Dandy Nichols' charge who did not get the best of runs at Ascot and will be a tough cookie to crack. The concession of five pounds to the Godolphin inmate should sway things in the latter's favour. Of the others, L'Oiseau d'Argent makes most appeal. Sir Michael Stoute's charge was third in Listed company at York last August and made a bad impression when unruly at the start on his Leicester return. He has been gelded since last season and has shown up well on the gallops, so that run is perhaps best overlooked. However, it will be a surprise if he is up to beating the two main contenders, with Three Points taken to come out on top.
