Dermot Weld wouldn't be expected to have many four-year-old maidens in his yard and AASHEQ has become incredibly frustrating, starting a short-priced favourite in all four starts to date including in last year's debut when just touched off by US Army Ranger. He was returning from almost a year off when a disappointing third at Limerick but has since been gelded and is visored for the first time so gets another chance. Both Casla and Bowden showed enough promise on their debuts behind Auckland at Leopardstown in May to suggest either could improve enough to take advantage if the selection doesn't come up to scratch again while Gloves On ran well for a long way on very testing ground at Gowran last time.
