Verdict

PSYCHEDELIC FUNK had looked the best early two-year-old in Ireland before meeting his match in the Coventry Stakes where he couldn't quicken on the very soft ground behind Caravaggio. He can still show further improvement and is taken to return to winning ways. The Ascot winner is trained by Aidan O'Brien, who has Peace Envoy entered here and though a beaten favourite in the Group 2 Railway Stakes here last month, when Mirdif was behind, his earlier close fourth in the Norfolk Stakes points to his chances. Jim Bolger doesn't tilt at windmills with maiden winners so the presence of the impressive Leopardstown winner Radio Silence suggests he's held in some regard.
