Verdict

Johnny Murtagh won the first running of this last year and his Newsman should make a bold bid after a good run behind the progressive Maneen on soft ground here last month. Tonkinese just failed to concede 5lb to Simannka on fast going at Clonmel and should carry his big weight into the frame but the concession of 24lb, including Tom Madden's claim, to the very impressive Navan winner HINT OF FROST may prove beyond him. The Mouse Doctor scored over a mile at Killarney but couldn't hold off Aridity over the same trip at Naas and tackles an extra quarter-mile, as does Atlas, who is improving and makes his handicap debut.
