Verdict

RONALD PUMP has been mixing hurdling and chasing and his overall form gives him the edge. Twice runner-up in Grade 1's over timber in 2020, he hasn't won as often as he should have and disappointed during the summer but looks to have been found an ideal opportunity by his new handler. Gordon Elliott has three entries and none can be ruled out with the stable in brilliant form with smart chaser Floueur possibly the pick though he'll need to run better than he did at Punchestown last month. Diol Ker beat the selection narrowly in the Leinster National at Naas in March when getting 3lb. He hasn't raced over hurdles since unplaced in two Grade 1's in spring of last year but won a Grade 2 at Gowran in January that year so looks the main threat. Eklat De Rire is lightly-raced and has won over hurdles but is likely to be warming up for the Savills Chase over Christmas.
