Verdict

POINT LONSDALE was having his first outing since last year’s 2000 Guineas when beating a subsequent winner in a Group 3 contest at the Curragh last month with the re-opposing Layfayette back in third. The Ballydoyle colt has clearly retained his ability and looks the one to beat. Third in the Winter Derby, Foxes Tales followed that with a Listed success at Kempton while Royal Champion was a Listed winner at Ayr last autumn. Poker Face lost his unbeaten record when runner-up in a Group 3 race at Newmarket but Mujtaba could prove up to this level judged on last season’s progressive form in handicaps.
