Captain Gerrard is one of several course and distance winners in the field and Bryan Smart's colt has to be respected dropping into this grade having been running in group races of late but it is hard to get away from BORDERLESCOTT, who gets the verdict ahead of Hoh Hoh Hoh. Successful here a couple of years ago off a mark of just 82, the seven-year-old has improved since then and he has to be respected from stall three but generally comes from off the pace so he may need some luck in running. Strike Up The Band and Reverence are both capable performers but would probably prefer a bit of cut in the ground. Sohraab faces a difficult task from stall 10 and of more interest may be the David Nicholls-trained Masta Plasta, who has been running consistently well of late and should again be involved at the finish. Borderlescott has plenty in his favour though and, from a good draw, he looks worth backing to gain a deserved success.
