      Verdict

      A quality over quantity contest where there are plenty of pointers to be gleaned for the coming months. Sohaib fared well on his reappearance, finishing a length behind 2000 Guineas sixth Aramram, and is sure to have come on for the run. Playapart is another who is race-fit and scored a comfortable success in the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket last month. However, it is hard to ignore the form of Sir George Turner's Newmarket victory from last October. The Nashwan colt had Landseer, who has subsequently twice been placed in Group company, and Dupont (an Italian Group 2 winner since) along with Desert Warning and Fools Rush In, all trailing in his wake when lifting the valuable Tattersalls Houghton Sales Stakes. The Derby was an instant target after that race and his claims after being supplemented for the Epsom classic will be put to their first test of the current season.
