      Verdict

      TRUE STATESMAN returned a clear winner at Chelmsford despite still showing signs of inexperience. His half-brother won over this longer trip as a two-year-old and the Johnstons’ colt is preferred to Double O. The latter also steps up in distance having struggled in the Albany at Ascot last time but both Betweenthesticks and Zephina have placed over 7f and the latter is fitted with a visor for this. The Twilight Lady makes more appeal than Bojink of the rest.
