In a modest opener, the vote goes to Silver Crest ahead of Miss Lovat and Smart Pick. The selection has not exactly set the world alight as of yet but has shown form enough to be competitive here. Also, he ran reasonably well when pitched into Listed company last time, so he must be considered to have ability by his trainer, even though he is not well drawn. Miss Lovat showed enough at Thirsk last time to suggest that she can go well here, and she might be able to take a good pitch from stall seven. Smart Pick found all bar City For Conquest too good for her last time, but that was not a bad effort and she holds claims, even though she has to contend with a fairly wide draw. Jackie Francis is bred for speed but, like many of the others, is hard to build a strong case for or looks modest. Keep an eye on the betting, though, and, that said, the winner is in there somewhere, and it might just turn out to be Silver Crest.
