Postileo looks a threat to all as he probably hit the front too soon at Kempton but CLEONTE rarely runs a bad race and must have solid claims in this consolation prize under De Sousa. He started favourite for the Chester Cup itself two years ago and finished an honourable sixth, four lengths ahead of Speedo Boy. He later won the Queen Alexandra at Royal Ascot and chased home the mighty Stradivarius at Doncaster and stamina isn’t an issue. Indianapolis is worth another try over the trip but Brasca has yet to prove he stays beyond 1m6f and Elysian Flame is penalised for a surprise victory at Newbury. Grandmaster Flash has won three times at Dundalk but whether he’ll continue that improvement back on Turf is anybody’s guess. Frankenstella made excellent progress in staying races last season and she will have needed her run at Newcastle so could go well at a price even though she has the outside berth.
