STRIKE UP THE BAND has the perfect draw and he could be up to landing this race at the principal expense of Sohraab and Angus Newz. Dandy Nicholls' charge was a disappointment at Nottingham as he failed to capitalise on a soft lead but with the trainer's runners in rude health, it is hoped that the winning habit can have rubbed off onto this talented yet highly frustrating individual. Sohraab was second to the ill-fated Chief Editor at Newbury. A winner at handicaps at York and Newmarket last season, he seems to act on any ground. Angus Newz will be a popular mare with the locals. She ran creditably in a listed contest at Bath and is a previous winner at Chester albeit over further. Good Gorsoon has dropped down the weights and has shown his better form at this time of the year. Elhamri will not be concerned by any overnight rain whilst Northern Dare, who was well punted on a recent visit to Wolverhampton, attempts to repeat the dose on the turf. The ultra consistent Green Manalishi, would have made more appeal had the draw been kinder. Strike Up The Band can make full use of his golden draw this afternoon.
