    Verdict

Just six line-up for this fascinating Listed event and all can be given some sort of a chance. Goldeva loves it round here and must go close, but we prefer Rum Shot, with Nights Cross also expected to be in the firing line. Following a successful two-year-old campaign, Henry Candy's colt has been highly tried in two races so far this season. He ran too badly to be true in the Sandy Lane at Haydock and is better judged on his previous fourth behind So Will I at Newbury. A repeat of that performance may be good enough here. Nights Cross has the beating of the selection on Newbury running and has since run better than his form figures indicate, however he is very difficult to win with and may again find one or two getting the better of him. Goldeva takes a step down in grade after running well in a Group three event at York last time, won by Tante Rose, she is certain to be thereabouts today. The old-timer Tedburrow and the enigmatic Talbot Avenue can also be given a squeak in a very open race, but Rum Shot is expected to fulfil his promise today and gets our vote.
