In depth

Verdict

Strategic Mount still has a fair bit of improvement in him and is taken to land this maiden from Katchit, Verahi and Mount Kilimanjaro. The selection has improved with every run and was just touched off by the bang in form Free To Air on soft ground at Windsor last time. Even a reproduction of that effort would probably suffice, so Paul Cole's colt is our choice. Katchit should not be far away. Mick Channon's gelding has the edge over today's opponent Verahi on a line through Cool Customer and handles soft ground well enough. However, 10 furlongs is probably his optimum trip and his stamina may just be found wanting here. Of the others, Verahi needs to improve significantly and Mount Kilimanjaro is likely to come on a fair bit for a decent debut an will be suited by the cut, so watch the market for any confidence, but without that knowledge we will take Strategic Mount to score.
