Last year’s winner Ballyoptic reappears on an 11lb higher mark. Secret Investor is also on a career-high mark now but his second to Native River, in whose honour this race is named, at Newbury in February reads well back in a handicap. Brave Eagle goes well fresh and Steely Addition is a real course specialist. BOLDMERE would have completed his hat-trick in a Grade 2 at Wetherby in February had he not fallen at the last. Caroline Bailey’s seven-year-old has already won a couple of handicaps and has scope for further improvement this season. Captain Chaos is useful when in the mood but Potterman needs good ground to show his best and this looks a big ask for the novice Seddon.
