Verdict

This looks a weak contest with GEELONG (NAP) taken to land a second career victory. He's looked a gelding still in search of a trip on recent starts but the key pointers indicate that 12 furlongs is his optimum trip. He also steps down in grade to Class 6 and Tabti is well worth his 7lb claim. Lusaka is nominated as the main danger after quite a respectable Newbury effort when last seen, and the combination of a 2lb drop in the handicap and the 5lb claim of Taylor Fisher gives him a chance of shedding his maiden tag. Iron Heart would also have a 'squeak' if recapturing something of his old form and the booking of David Probert for Prince Ali is a positive but the gelding is proving difficult to catch right.
