In depth

Verdict

The Big Bite makes obvious appeal after producing a career-best effort in the Greatwood Gold Cup when a creditable third to Umbrigado, beaten under three lengths. He's actually gone up 4lb for taking the minor placing there but is highly respected with conditions in his favour. Pym will be far happier back at this trip and has decent claims on the best of his form, whilst Coole Cody, winner here in November of the Paddy Power Gold Cup, ran a cracker when fourth to The Shunter here at the festival last month. Most of the others have a shout too, but we'll take a chance with MANOFTHEMOUNTAIN. He was much better last time when runner-up at Kempton and has a decent each-way chance at the very least in receipt of considerable weight from the majority of his opponents.
