led, ridden over 2f out, headed well over 1f and raced alone far side, stayed on same pace, no chance with winner

slowly into stride, behind, never a factor
towards rear, chased along and headway over 3f out, never reached challenging position
held up, smooth progress over 3f out, shaken up to lead well over 1f out, pushed clear final furlong
prominent and behind from halfway
mid-division, headway over 3f out, one pace final 2f
prominent, pushed along and lost ground halfway
in touch, pushed along over 4f out, driven over 2f out, weakened final furlong
always rear division
mid-division, effort over 4f out, no impression
Shout could be of interest stepping up in trip but, along with Height of Fury and Moonshadow, there has to be a doubt concerning the ground for Roger Charlton's filly and it might be worth taking a chance on Flame Creek, who is preferred. The selection has not had a great deal of racing over the last two years and was making his flat racing debut at the age of 10 when a creditable second behind Red Gala, with a couple of useful sorts behind, at Brighton earlier this month. A return to the winter game surely beckons for Flame Creek but he is proven under testing conditions and may be able to take this race prior to going back over fences. Henry Cecil's Moonshadow has a decent pedigree but has flattered to deceive on more than one occasion and is not certain to go on the ground anyway. Similar comments apply to Height of Fury and of more interest may be the Nicky Richards-trained Funny Times who, like the selection, is better know for her exploits at the winter game and now makes her flat racing debut. She was disappointing over hurdles at Wetherby recently though and a safer option looks to be Flame Creek.
